James Enos

James A. Enos is an artist and researcher, formally trained as an architect with a background in manufacturing from Purdue University (BS 2001). His projects are rigorously interdisciplinary; beyond cultural production, the work can be read as quantifiable research within numerous theoretical discourses. Holding graduate degrees in both Architecture (M.Arch 2005 NSAD) and Visual Art (MFA 2009 UCSD), the locus of his work lies within the production of theoretical texts, stunningly complex models, and program-generated imagery. Primarily interrogating the built environment of North American cities, his efforts as Co-Founder and Diree Periscope Project articulate a poignant critique of consumer vs. client culture and the spatial fallouts of contentious urban development hierarchies. These efforts provide a refreshingly critical contribution to a history of theoretical debate on utopianism in architecture and social artist practices, yet still, cultivate practical approaches towards policy intervention, community, and agency.
