The Museum of Future Objects will open to the public in 2016. But we can't wait that long to show you the future! MoFO will bring the future to you via pop-up museums where we can give you a sampling of our future objects sooner. Our MoFO pop-up project will continue until our doors open in the not too distant future.
The concept for the MoFO Pop-ups is to provide additional platforms for outreach so that an awareness and appreciation of the future can be fostered now. Although temporary locations, we hope they will have a lasting effect. We see the MoFO Pop-ups as extending our vision for the Museum, places that ignite curiosity, fuel the imagination and perpetuate the future now. In this way we hope our audiences will develop an appreciation and embrace the future for years to come.
MoFO was very excited to launch its first ever pop-up Museum at the 2013 Museums and the Web Conference in Portland April 18-20.
We fired up our teleporter and demonstrated a little something that the Institute for Future Objects has been working on. Please view the documentation from this exciting event here.
This MoFo Pop-Ups Project is supported by Museums and the Web, The Institute for Future Objects, Calit2, The Arthur C. Clarke Center for Human Imagination; and Sony.
